The Physical Abuse and its Relationship to Psychological adjustment among Students with learning Difficulties
Abstract
The current research aims to identify the level of physical abuse and its relationship to psychological adjustment among students with difficulties from the point of view of their teachers. The research sample consisted of (100) male and female teachers distributed among (25) centers in Dhi Qar Governorate. They were chosen intentionally, and given the nature of the research, the researcher adopted the descriptive approach. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher prepared a physical abuse scale consisting of (20) items, and a psychological adjustment scale.
The validity and reliability of the scale was verified, and the statistical analysis package (spss) was adopted to extract the results. The results showed:
The results of the research showed that the level of physical abuse is below average, and this indicates that implementing regulations and instructions that stipulate respecting the rights of the child and observing them during teaching, and dealing with the child with respect, so the child feels safe and secure, and that the level of psychological adjustment is appropriate and that the relationship between physical abuse and psychological adjustment is direct whenever The greater the physical abuse, the lower the level of psychological adjustment.
The researcher recommended the following:
- The need to hold conferences and seminars for teachers of children with learning difficulties to introduce them to physical abuse.
- The educational media publish bulletins and publications that highlight physical abuse in all government institutions to eliminate it.
- Educating schools, including teachers and all of society, about the rights of the child and his right to live a dignified life free of violence.
- Introducing teachers of children with learning difficulties into rehabilitation and development courses to provide them with the necessary skills and scientific expertise that will help them deal with children to increase the level of psychological adjustment among children.
