The Struggle Between Absence and Presence in Ahlam Mosteghanemi's Trilogy: An Analytical Reading
Abstract
Absence constitutes the other cornerstone of existence, as existence revolves around the two pillars of presence and absence. Absence is not nothingness; rather, it is a characteristic and a sign of presence. Ahlam Mosteghanemi's trilogy (Memory in the Flesh, Chaos of the Senses, Bed Hopper) is one of the distinguished models in Arabic literature that deals with the phenomena of presence and absence of women. Therefore, our research will focus on the pillar of absence in the trilogy, and then the conflict between absence and presence in the novels.
