Rebellion in the Northwest Provinces of Canada (Red River Rebellion or Métis "Rebellion" 1869-1870) and the government's position on it
Abstract
The research talks about the Prime Minister's Macdonald position on the rebellion in the Northwest Provinces, especially after MacDonald's attempt to expand the Dominion of Canada to include those areas that were inhabited by Indians and Mets, descendants of Scottish and French Catholic fishermen, white fur traders and Indian mothers, who formed the Red River settlement. The research addressed the goals of the MacDonald government From the expansion in those areas, as well as its procedures, and the attitude of the population towards those measures, and finally how the government dealt with the rebellion and whether it succeeded in that.
