Narcissism in Sufi Literature
Abstract
In Sufi literature, the concept of narcissism is reinterpreted to transcend the superficial notion of self-love, becoming a means to search for divine truth. Here, narcissism is used as a symbol for the soul's journey in discovering its true self, which is, in reality, a reflection of the divine self. Sufis believe that when a person deeply contemplates
themselves, they are, in fact, seeking God, because the human soul is a mirror that reflects the attributes of the Creator , n this context, narcissism becomes a path.
to spiritual awareness, where the Sufi realizes that self-love is not an end in itself but a starting point for a deeper understanding of existence. In Sufi literature, narcissism expresses an attraction toward the divine self, which manifests in the human soul. This attraction does not mean detachment from the world but rather an openness to absolute truth
