Kidnapping as a source for financing terrorism

Abstract

       Kidnapping is considered a heinous crime that violates human freedom and dignity due to its serious psychological effects on individuals and governments alike. The crime of kidnapping and its resulting crimes are among the most widespread criminal phenomena in many countries around the world, as they serve as an important source of funding for terrorist groups. This funding comes from the financial gain achieved by kidnappers through ransom demands from the families of the abducted individuals, or through trafficking them or their body parts. Therefore, we will discuss the sources of terrorist financing resulting from kidnapping crimes, whether through obtaining financial ransom or by recruiting and exploiting them in terrorist operations, or through trafficking them or their body parts.
