The Mental skills Included in the Biology Book for the First Intermediate Grade and Analyzed in Light of the Marzano Model

Abstract

  The current research aims to identify:The mental skills included in the biology textbook for the first intermediate grade in light of the Marzano model. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach, and the community was represented by the biology textbook for the first intermediate grade for the academic year (2023-2024). The sample represents the content of the biology book for the first intermediate grade for the first three semesters. In order to achieve the research goal, the researcher prepared the analysis tool represented by a list of mental skills according to Marzano’s classification. The analysis tool consisted of (8) main skills and (21) sub-skills with indicators indicating them.

To verify the validity of the research tool, the tool was presented with an analysis model to a group of arbitrators in the field of teaching methods and curricula. Most of the tool items obtained an agreement rate of (100%).

The results showed that the content included (94) repetitions at a rate of (100%), distributed among (8) main mental skills and (19) achieved sub-mental skills. In light of these results, the researcher presented a number of recommendations and proposals.
