the city of Kufa in the dictionary of Lisan al-Arab by Ibn Manzoor (d. 711 AH), a historical study
Abstract
The city of Kufa is considered one of the first cities that were built in the Islamic era in the land of Iraq after the success of the Islamic conquests there, and it bears great importance in the history of Muslims in various political, economic, social and religious directions. Therefore, various Muslim historians and hadith scholars over the past centuries cared about it, including Ibn Manzoor (d. 911 AH). The encyclopedic author, the author of the book Lexicon of Lisan al-Arab, who reported on this city a group of very short news, which are very few, and do not give that great status to the first city that the Arab rulers glorified thanks to the role of its people in the expansion of Islamic conquests towards the east, and this is a natural thing because the book Lisan al-Arab is a linguistic dictionary that pays attention to Arabic words, and deals with the mention of this city according to the occurrence of those words.
