Abstract

The current research aims to (construct and standardize a scale to assess cognitive failures among students of the College of Basic Education - Sumer University), and

to achieve the objectives of the researchers followed the descriptive approach for its suitability to the objectives of their research. They chose students of the College of Basic Education/Sumer University as a sample for this research, as the number of sample members reached (50) male and female students. The researchers prepared a (questionnaire) as a measurement tool, consisting of (20) paragraphs, which were presented to a group of experts and specialists to ensure validity and reliability. They used a number of statistical methods to analyze the research results, namely: the arithmetic mean, the standard deviation, the t-test for one sample, the t-test for two independent samples, and the Pearson correlation coefficient Statistical methods for analyzing the research results are: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test for one sample, t-test for two independent samples, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The research concluded that the study sample has a positive level of cognitive failures, and that there are no statistically significant differences according to the gender variable. The researchers reached a number of conclusions:

1- Basic Education College students experience cognitive deficits, due to their age and the nature of their studies.

2- There are no statistically significant differences in cognitive failures according to the gender variable (males, females) among students of the College of Basic Education.

In light of the results reached by the research, the researchers recommended a number of recommendations and proposed a number of proposals.
