Abstract
The aim of the research was to identify the effectiveness of the cumulative harvest strategy in improving fourth-grade primary school students' achievement and promoting sustainable thinking in Arabic reading. To achieve this goal, two null hypotheses were formulated, and the researcher adopted an experimental design comprising two equivalent groups. Al-Noor Elementary School for Boys was intentionally selected, and equivalence was achieved between the two groups on several variables: chronological age in months, parents' academic achievement, intelligence level, and a test of prior knowledge in Arabic. As for the research tools, an achievement test consisting of 20 multiple-choice items was prepared, in addition to formulating 92 behavioral objectives. A 20-item sustainable thinking test was also prepared, based on previous studies. Validity, reliability, ease-difficulty coefficient, discrimination coefficient, and effectiveness of false alternatives were calculated for the two tests. The results showed that students in the experimental group who studied using the cumulative harvest strategy outperformed students in the control group who studied using the traditional method, both in academic achievement and in the sustainable thinking test, demonstrating the effectiveness of the strategy used. Based on the findings, the researcher presented a set of recommendations:
- The need to train teachers through their participation in training courses focused on the use of modern teaching strategies, including the cumulative learning strategy.
- Incorporating modern teaching strategies, such as the cumulative learning strategy, into the curricula of colleges of education and basic education.
Based on the results obtained from this research, the researcher recommends the following:
- Emphasize the effectiveness of the cumulative learning strategy in improving intermediate school students' achievement and promoting complex thinking in Arabic.
- Promote the use of the cumulative learning strategy in teaching to improve intermediate school students' achievement and promote educational thinking in Arabic.
