Abstract

Murder is one of the most brutal crimes in human societies, as it leads to the end of a human life with prior intent or by mistake. According to the statistics of the judiciary and security services, Dhi Qar Governorate, the subject of the study, recorded in 2024 more than (118) murders, including (106) premeditated murders and (12) murders by mistake. The study also showed that murder is one of the crimes that are increasingly committed in the summer, as this season recorded an increase in its rates by more than 40% compared to other seasons, which reflects the impact of this crime on climatic factors. It also differs in terms of motives and reasons leading to it and the type of relationship between the perpetrator and the victim, in addition to the difference in the place where it was committed within the governorate.
