Sources and mechanisms of poetic imagery Inal-Jawahiri's poetry

Abstract

        This research aims to study the poetic image in the poetry of Muhammad Mahdi Al-Jawahiri, by revealing its intellectual and aesthetic sources, and by analyzing the figurative patterns and expressive means adopted by the poet in constructing it and intensifying its meanings. The study is divided into two main axes: the first deals with the sources of the poetic image, such as the religious, historical, and mythological heritage, in addition to the social and cultural environment, and both the spatial and temporal environments, with the symbolic and semantic dimensions they carry that feed the poetic imagination with vital material. The second axis focuses on the diversity of poetic images—sensory, visual, kinetic, and temporal—highlighting the linguistic and semantic tensions they embody, such as antithesis, condensation, and paradox, as expressive mechanisms that reflect the poet’s experience, emotions, and stance toward reality.
