Level of Linguistic Performance Among Students of the Arabic Language Department in Colleges of Basic Education

The aims of this study to assess the level of linguistic performance among students of the Arabic Language Department in the Colleges of Basic Education. To achieve the objectives, the researcher adopted the descriptive method. The study sample consisted of 25 male and female students from the third stage of morning studies in the Arabic Language Department at the College of Basic Education, University of Sumer, for the academic year (2024–2025).The researcher developed four tools to measure linguistic performance skills, namely: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Three standardized tests were prepared to assess the skills of listening, reading, and writing, along with an observation checklist designed to evaluate speaking skills. The researcher ensured the validity and reliability of the tools and their results. After statistically analyzing the collected data, the study concluded that the linguistic performance skills of the Arabic language students were available at a moderate level.
